We are happy to share the information for the upcoming 2022 Graduation Ceremony!
- Graduation will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 on the Independence High School softball field at 7:00pm.
- Cap and Gown:
- If purchased from JB’s, graduates will be able to pick up their “cap, gown and tassel package” starting on Friday, May 27th in the Independence High office.
- If you purchased a tassel only, those will be handed out before the ceremony.
- If graduates will be borrowing a cap and gown from the school, we will hand them out to graduates before the ceremony begins on June 1st.
- If you still have not paid the $20 tassel and robe cleaning fee, graduates will need to pay by Tuesday, May 31st.
- After the ceremony, graduates that borrowed a cap and gown will need to return them to room 9 to receive their diploma.
- Cap decorations and money lei’s are not permitted during the ceremony.
- Graduate Arrival Time
- Graduates need to arrive at the “staging area” (in the breezeway between the main office and rooms 7 and 8) at 6:15pm and must arrive no later than 6:30pm.
- Ceremony Seating
- Gates for the ceremony will open at 6:15pm for guests.
- Each graduate will get ONE table for 7 guests to sit at.
- Additional seating will be available for other guests throughout the field area (but not at tables). Graduates will not have a guest limit.
- Graduates will sit with their family at the table during the ceremony.
- Handicap seating will be on the sidewalk outside of the basketball courts overlooking the field.
- Parking
- Handicap parking will be in the lower parking lot in front of rooms 9 and 10.
- A golf cart will be available to assist guests if needed.
- Overflow parking for all guests will be available down the hill by transportation.

- Photos
- A photographer will be available to take pictures of graduates when receiving their diploma.
- If families would like to purchase prints, the photographer’s contact information will be provided. However, families may take their own photos if they prefer.
- The local KVGC Radio Station will livestream the ceremony on their Facebook page for family and friends that are unable to attend in person.
- All school supplies (chromebooks, hotspots, textbooks, etc.) must be returned and all fees cleared by Tuesday, May 31st for students to receive their diploma during the ceremony.
Please remember that graduation requirements must be fulfilled to participate in the graduation ceremony.
